The Francis Crick Institute

Stakeholder Research

Insight for a five-year strategic review

The Francis Crick Institute is the largest bio-science institute in Europe. Ahead if its first five-year review, we were commissioned to research how it is perceived by its senior stakeholders. We carried out fifty depth interviews with politicians, policy-makers, academics, clinicians, and senior executives in pharmaceuticals, healthcare and innovation. Together with a broader online survey, our analysis focused on the Crick’s five strategic aims, so that our analysis would mesh with the Crick’s own work developing its next five-year strategy. This covered areas such as the Institute’s image as a place for leading scientists to develop their careers, and perceptions of the Crick’s contribution to UK science and healthcare. We presented the findings in two workshops with Sir Paul Nurse and his team.
